How to get more out of your clothes

I believe the outfit is all about the accessories. They make the biggest difference and that’s why I invest in them the most. Most of my clothes are from ASOS and Zara with the occasional treat from Self Portrait or Zimmermann but most of my shoes and bags are designer.

I love white dresses and have so many. I’ve shared countless of them on the blog like here, here and here and also on my Instagram. I can’t actually believe I’ve never shared this one from Self Portrait here before. And that’s when it occurred to me. It’s more of a dressy dress and I tend to wear it more in the evening when I go to ballet or a dinner and I usually show you more of my day looks. But I decided recently to wear this dress in the day and this brings me back to where I started.

To dress this dress down I wore it with fancy flat shoes and my work bag (I mostly carry small bags and big ones only for work or travel). Like I said at the beginning the accessories make the outfit. I believe to get most of your clothes, you have to treat them as blank canvas and play with the styling. This dress will look completely different with heels and a clutch bag. I’m the sort of person who love to wear the same things again and again but to make the outfit always different I change the shoes and bags.

I dare you to go and take your favourite dress/outfit and try to style it two different ways: dressy and casual. Just a pair of flats or heels make a huge difference. Also play with jewellery. Beautiful earrings will take any outfit to another level. Often if I’m going out straight after work, I just swap flats for heels, big bag for a small one, add a pair of earring and a bright lipstick. It’s that simple! But the effect is huge.

Do you think accessories make the outfit?

Dress: Self Portrait (old) also love this one, shoes, bag Celine, jacket Zara

Have a stylish day.
