How to love yourself and be happy

Howtoloveyourselfandbehappy8

Dress via ASOS limited sizes available here, similar, boots Zara last season just bought this similar style, jacket via ASOS sold out similar, bag Dolce and Gabbana

I’m not here to boast about my wonderful life (because we all have our ups and downs) but I feel the happiest I have in a very long time and I think it’s partially due to my way of thinking but also working on my happiness. So I want to share few tips with you. I believe in positive thinking and if you haven’t watched The Secret yet, you should!

As cliche as it sounds, I really believe happiness is a state of mind. Life is what you make it and if you’re just waiting for life to happen or give you what you think you deserve than you’re destined to fail. Think hard about what makes you happy and then go after it. Chase your dreams.

For me, things that make me happy are spending time with my friends and family, travelling, reading, going to exhibitions, exploring and doing new things. I’ve been really trying to do more of those this year and keeping myself busy. At the beginning of the year I decided I want to travel more (see the top destinations on my list here) and I’ve already booked two trips. And you can say yes but this costs money and I don’t have money etc.. It doesn’t have to be expensive! There are so many deals and offers around.

But maybe you’re not into travelling. There’s lot of things I enjoy that don’t cost anything. Like visiting museums. I must say we are very lucky in London because many museums and galleries are for free. I try not to take it for granted but make the most of it while I can. It’s so inspiring and there’s nothing better to do on a rainy day (we get a share few) than getting lost in the world of the Old Masters or Impressionists. Only recently I went to the National Gallery for the millionth time and came away feeling inspired. I usually share my visits on my instastories so if you’re into these things and are not following me on Instagram yet, what are you waiting for?

And if you’re feeling down and/or lazy and don’t want to leave the house? Listen to music, watch a movie or read a book! I recommend the Nutcracker soundtrack any time of the year. It always puts a smile on my face! And when it comes to a movie, I have watched Bridget Jones Baby more time than I can admit. It never ceases to cheer me up. Books – I have a few on the go. What I’m loving right now is Good night stories for rebel girls – 100 tales of extraordinary women. It’s so inspiring! I’m also a subscriber of Harper’s Bazaar and Porter magazines and really enjoy reading both. They have some great articles and feature dreamy fashion and editorials.

What are some things that make you happy?

I must admit the toughest thing for me is self love. It is very very important and as I’m approaching my 37th birthday I must admit I’ve become better at it but not a master. I definitely feel better in my skin and I’ve learnt to accept myself for who I am. I like the person I am but of course see things on my body that I don’t like. Us women we are often too harsh on ourselves and very critical. We concentrate on the things we don’t like rather than the things we like. And I’m trying every day to change that.

I changed the way I eat about this time last year and lost some weight and actually like the size I am. I just really want to tone up but find it hard to find time for exercise. I try to do yoga once or twice a week and walk as much as I can, but other than that I don’t exercise. And I realise how important it is. Healthy eating has made a huge difference for me ( I am good about 80% of the time and if I fancy pizza I will have pizza!) and maybe one day I’ll share a post about the changes I’ve made and what food I gave up but I’m actually eating loads, just good stuff and I feel much better. I think all these little things make a big difference on our wellbeing and happiness.

And when none of the above helps when I’m feeling down? I’m a big believer in treating yourself. And you don’t have to spend a fortune to do that. My favourite little treats are lipsticks, fresh flowers, books or a coffee and cake somewhere nice.

And may I recommend you a new coffee place I’ve just discovered in London? It’s called Saint Aymes coffee at 59 Connaught street where all these photos were taken. It’s very pretty and everything tastes delicious. But go quick before it gets busy because it’s super instagrammable and I’m expecting it to get crazy soon.

What’s your secret to happiness and self love?

On repeat

pink1

Coat sold out in pink but here’s a black version and a very similar pink style, jeans Paige, boots (they are on sale now!), handbag Chanel

This coat has been on serious repeat. I have also worn it here and here. But as much as I enjoyed wearing it I literally cannot wait for Spring now and getting rid of coats. Spring is my favourite time of the year and I’m getting excited just thinking about it.

In the meantime this coat will probably get a lot more wear. It’s such a nice colour and it’s a bargain too!

On another note, the weekend is nearly here. What are you all up to?

Welcome to the new year and brand new series. Once a month I will be sharing a place with you that I love and recommend. I am a self confessed coffee addict so I’m starting this series with possibly the cutest cake shop in London that also serves good coffee and teas.
I don’t know what I love more – the pink theme of interior and exterior decorations or the delicious cakes and biscuits. Everything looks and tastes lovely. The staff are nice too and if you come on a warm day you can sit outside and people watch. The area is buzzing and there’s always something going on but it’s not too overcrowded like other areas in London.
It’s in Belgravia only a short walk from Victoria or slightly longer walk from Sloane Square.
Here’s the address and website.
Let me know if you visit and what you thought!

Little red dress

Dress also comes in black, OTK boots Nicholas Kirkwood, clutch Miu Miu, lipstick Tom Ford Luciano

I bought this dress in a longer version in the summer (in pink) and had so many comliments on it and absolutely love it and can’t wait to wear it again. So when the red shorter version popped up I knew it would be perfect with OTK boots and for the festive season – it was a no brainer. I had to get it. Especially as it’s only £25! I am seriously tempted to get the black one as well.
And where better show it off than in front of Cartier. It’s the best looking shop right now and how nice it would be to find something in a little red box under the Christmas tree? A girl can dream..
But back to the dress. I already wore it twice and plan to wear it loads over the following couple of weeks. What’s not to like? Both the fit and flare shape and the off the shoulder neckline are super flattering and the red is a really nice shade that suits most colours. Trust me I am very pale and not many shades suit me. Also I am tall (5’11’) and can just get away with the length so tall girls take notice.
Who’s excited for Christmas? (*raises hand)

Have a stylish day.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Coat Zara, jumper HM, skirt ASOS, boots Nicholas Kirkwood, bag Valentino, brooch Chanel
Even though this post is called Breakfast at Tiffany’s I am actually writing it from the Czech republic where I am spending some time with my family. Due to my work commitments I won’t be spending Christmas at home so this is my time to do it and we already exchanged gifts and are having Christmas dinner today (Thursday).
But we shot this look few weeks ago with my photographer Victoria who was rushing having to do many Christmas shoots before jetting of to Goa India and I of course wanted to do it all before my holiday.
And no, sadly we didn’t have a breakfast at Tiffany¨s but I had a coffee outside and thought it would be a nice blog title. And the store is looking so pretty and festive just like the rest of Bond street, probably my favorite street right now, it definitely has the best decorations. It is looking beautiful and had me feeling very festive. And with my early Christmas now I am more than ready for it all.
Are you ready for Christmas?
Have you seen the beutiful lights on Bond street?
Have a stylish day.

All pink everything

Dress now on sale!,  pink coat now sold out (but keep checking as they do come back) also love the camel version , boots, Chanel brooch, Valentino bag, Chanel sunglasses
I honestly can’t believe December is here. This year has flown by but it has been good and I will remember it fondly. I have big plans for next year so already looking forward to it!
But let’s enjoy December first and I have some super Christmassy posts lined up for you with festive outfit inspiration for every budget. And no it’s not going to be all pink. As much as I love the colour I tend to wear more red around Christmas time so there’s a little giveaway. I hope you will like them.
But I couldn’t not share a pink outfit and this dress which is my current favourite. It’s so comfortable to wear and suitable for many occasions. You can dress it up or down. In this case I piled on the pink (never too much pink in my eyes) but of course you can town it down with a different colour coat. I like the idea of cream or navy.
What colour will  you be wearing for Christmas? What are your plans for December?
Have a stylish day.

Favourite things

Coat Burberry, jumper H&M, jeans Paige, boots ASOS, bag Miu Miu, sunglasses Prada.

There are quite a few things I couldn’t imagine my life without. Like coffee first thing in the morning (don’t you just love the smell) and then also throughout the day, colour pink (if pink suddenly disappeared from the colour spectrum, life wouldn’t be the same..), cosy jumpers in autumn, sunshine, family, friends, laughter, books, fashion magazines, flowers, candles, the list goes on..
What are some of your favorite things?
  Have a stylish day.
