Great basics wishlist

2014 wishlist

Blazer Helmut Lang, leather jacket Muuba, handbag Gucci, jeans J Brand, sunglasses Prada, pumps Jimmy Choo, wrap dress Diane von Furstenberg

This year I decided to stick to quality over quantity and invest more in good quality basics. I’ve realised time and time again that I get much more wear out of stuff I spend a bit more on. That’s not to say you can’t buy great items on high street (Zara, H&M and ASOS being the winners), but sometimes it’s good to invest. Some of these items have been on my wish list for a while.. I’ve finally purchased Helmut Lang blazer in sales and can’t wait to receive it. I’ve got my eyes on a Muubaa jacket that I’m hoping to buy next pay day. And over the course of the year hopefully I’ll add these to my wardrobe too.
What are your dream buys for this year?

Have a stylish day and a good weekend.

Party feet – the end of sales edition

February is here, London Fashion Week is just round the corner and most sales are finishing this weekend. It’s time to truly embrace the new season. But not before you grab some last minute bargains. For today’s Party feet post I’ve picked my top 3 shoes left in the Net-a-porter sale, that is ending tomorrow. If you’re the lucky person with the right size, you can get some amazing footwear for unbelievable prices. Sometime it’s worth waiting till the last minute and snapping up proper bargains. So which ones are you going to go for?

Czech Marie Claire editorial – Gucci Resort

I don’t know how about you, but now the winter has officially started and the days will start getting longer, I simply can not help but think about summer. I can just imagine myself in an exotic getaway. This editorial fits the mood perfectly. I keep promising to bring more Czech editorials, so I’m happy I’ve found this one from Czech Marie Claire. It stars Vendela Johanssen all in Gucci resort 2012 styled by Sona Jakuliakova and photographed by Dennison Bertram. Shot in Monaco and called “Stroked by the sun rays” I feel instantly warmer just looking at it. Now I just need to book my getaway..
Have a stylish day.

For today’s outfit I chose a skirt that is a wee bit pricy from net-a-porter.com because I really liked it, but don’t worry if you can’t afford it, I used a similar gold one last week. I tried to keep the rest fairly simple so picked everything else from H&M.

Frida Giannini · Gucci · Milan Fashion week · SS 12

Gucci SS 12 at Milan Fashion Week

Gucci or more correctly Tom Ford for Gucci, is why I started loving fashion so much, that I knew I needed to be involved somehow. Then he left and I was devastated. Along came Frida Giannini and I wasn’t impressed. Not for a while anyway. But it all changed few seasons ago and then she really got me on her side with her last two collections (before yesterday’s one).
This year the famous Italian brand celebrates their 90th anniversary and what a way to mark the occasion! Giannini showed us a collection with a true spirit of Gucci. Sexy, glamorous, powerful – for sophisticated women who know what they want and aren’t afraid to get it. I have to admit I wasn’t that keen on the first few look but then it came. The sparkle, the sexy cuts, great accessories. Main colours were white, black and gold (always a hit with me) and green. Just look at the green python handbag, it looks so luxurious yet perfect for every day. I like the pants with buttons at the bottom – nice detailing. And the boxy jackets – perfection.
The collection had a 1920s feel with all the drop waist dresses and fringing yet it was modern and desirable. So well done again to Frida and happy 90th to Gucci. To many more!
Have a stylish day.

Masters of Style at Somerset House

var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-22573092-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www&#8217😉 + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
As promised last week, I am reporting from the latest exhibition at Somerset House. Masters of Style is a collection of images of world famous Italian fashion brands, looking at their history through past campaigns, editorials etc. For each designer there is a screen showing their AW fashion show, so if you haven’t seen the images yet, you can check out what’s arriving into the stores about now and in upcoming weeks.
Each image has a little comment from the designers or Colin McDowell, who curated the exhibition. One photo looks better than the other. It gives you a great insight into the brand’s history and philosophy. It’s so inspiring and well presented. I absolutely loved it! You get a little booklet too, which has a lot of information and is nice addition to my fashion books collection.
Although photography is not allowed, I managed to  sneakily take few pics with my iPhone to give you an idea what to expect. If you get a chance, go check it out as it really is good.
Have a stylish day.
