Artistry studio – NYC edition

artistrystudio1

Recently I was lucky enough to get invited to a launch party of a very exciting make up range from Artistry Studio – NYC edition. As you probably know I love make up and I love NYC so I couldn’t wait to see it all.

Not only we were given delicious food, countless drinks and a goodie bag with the whole make up range, we were treated with a demonstration by an international make up artist who showed us how to use these products. For models they used an English rose girl and a black skinned girl and they were both gorgeous and the collection worked on both of them beautifully.

This make up range is so easy to use and it’s so versatile it really is a pleasure to work with. I’ve been especially loving all the lipstick and lipglosses (I may be biased I know) but the highlighter is amazing too and the palettes are so good. They really have everything you need and are easy to just put into your handbag for touch ups. I’m loving their names too all inspired by NYC. You have Liberty Light (my favourite), Midtown Medium and Downtown Deep. The shades are beautiful and they stay on really well.

But back to the lipglosses. Again cool names: City Coral (I’ll keep this for next spring), 212 Pink (love this!!) and NYC Berry (so perfect for this time of the year). They are very moisturising and feel so nice on the lips and last really well. And then there’s 2in1 lip sticks which create cool ombre effect. I especially love the Fifth Avenue Fuchsia (are you surprised?).

They also have really good mascara and eyeshadow sticks and I feel like I don’t have to buy any make up for years! I’m so grateful for all of this. You know I am a bit of a make up snob and I can tell you this range is amazing. I love all the products and I would definitely recommend them. And how cool is the packaging? I wonder what city will the next collaboration be inspired by!

Have you tried any of these products? Which is your favourite?

Autumn lipstick shades

falllipsticks5

In last week’s beauty post’s I promised to show you some of my favourite lipstick shades for autumn so here it is.

I still love pink lips in the fall I just go for deeper shades and choose more raspberry colours and even go for Burgundy. I don’t like anything too dark though as it doesn’t suit my skin tone. If you’re pale like me I’d say avoid dark colour of lipsticks. If you still however want to wear Burgundy this Tom Ford shade is perfect for you. It’s the one I’m wearing in the photo below (and top one on my hand). It’s quite sheer to start with but you can layer it for a stronger shade. I really love it.

Another one I really love and have been wearing a lot is Estee Lauder Thrill Seeker. It’s a gorgeous shade, has a really nice texture and feels nice on the lips.

If you prefer matte lips you will love the YSL stain. It’s got amazing staying power and I love the colour. It’s more purple but not too daring and looks really nice on. The only reason why I don’t wear it more often is that it feels very dry (like most matte lipsticks do) and I prefer moisturising ones.

Last but definitely not least is a Dior lipstick. I love their make up and this lipstick is no exception. I’ve already spoke about it last week but here’s the link again. It’s a gorgeous colour and lasts really well.

Get the glow – highlighters and blushers

gettheglow-blushersandhighlighters2

After lipsticks, highlighters and blushers are my favourite make up product and something I buy quite a lot too. They can make such a big difference to your face and if I could use only one make up product it would be probably a blusher.

That’s not to say I like a very sculpted overly done face contouring. I’m talking about subtle glow that makes a big difference. A bit of highlighter high on your cheekbones and a touch a blusher brightens your face and makes you look healthier and more awake. One thing I’ve learned about these things: it’s all about blending. Blend, blend, blend.

I love all of these products shown here and I have been playing around with combining them , mixing and matching and achieving different looks. I’ve started sharing on Instastories more of my daily make up and want to do more of that so if you’re not already following me on Instagram, make sure you do.

In these products you have a combination of different textures which give different effect and to decide which I’m going to use depends on my mood, what I’m wearing and what look I want to achieve.

I’m starting with the Tom Ford palette which I absolutely adore! All the colours are so pretty (I don’t use eyeshadows a lot but when I do these are definitely great) but I use this palette a lot and always take it with me when I’m travelling. You have the blusher on the left and highlighter on the right. It’s hard to say which highlighter I use the most but this one is probably it. I just love the shade and can I tell you Tom Ford make up has an amazing staying power! Put this on in the morning and it’ll still be there when you get home in the evening. It’s very highly pigmented and it’s just so good. The only bad thing I can say about it  is that it’s a limited edition palette from last year! Unfortunately you can’t get the exact one but I need to find out if they do these shades individually because they really are good. I also love the blusher – it’s not too pink and it’s perfect for everyday. It’s powder so a bit more matte compared to some of the other ones I use definitely a good shade to have in your make up bag.

gettheglow-blushersandhighlighters7

I love the Nars multiple sticks (again they’re great for travelling), I use them a lot especially in the summer. They have a great texture, they’re quite creamy and glide on really well. I did a proper review here.

gettheglow-blushersandhighlighters5

This Nars Orgasm liquid blusher I only bought recently but I’m already obsessed. It’s their best selling shade and I can tell why. It’s such a great colour. It’s kind of pinky with a golden shimmer and it literally suits everyone. I love the liquid texture it gives such a nice glow. You only need tiniest of amount but you can build it up for a more intense look. It’s seriously good.

gettheglow-blushersandhighlighters6

I wore this Chanel blush colour a lot in the Spring, in the summer I go for more natural and more of a glow rather than this (it’s quite a bright pink) but I really love it. It gives a really nice colour in my face especially when I’m feeling very pale. When my face needs brightening up this is the one I go for. It’s called Pink explosion for a reason and if you’re new to blushers it may be a bit too much but there’s never too much pink for me (unless I’m wearing all pink outfit then I wouldn’t use it). It’s baked powder meaning even if you drop it it won’t break but it also means it doesn’t always give a lot of colour. You have to scrape it a bit but it’s a great product and lasts well.

gettheglow-blushersandhighlighters4

Tom Ford Sheer highlighting duo. Again a new product for me but I’ve been wearing it every day this week. You can use the  colours separately or mix them both together which works really well. I can imagine the gold will be amazing around Christmas time too. Now I add a bit more of the rose gold but it gives an amazing glow. I’ve been trying it with all of the blushers above and I’m loving the effects. It’s very highly pigmented, has an amazing staying power and you can use it as eyeshadows too. It’s a bit pricey but definitely worth the pennies. I think this will be my favourite for summer.

Latest beauty buys

latestbeautybuys

Today I want to share with you few of my latest beauty discoveries. By now you probably know that I am beauty obsessed in the sense that I love buying and trying new beauty products and I recently started series on my instastories every Sunday, where I share my finds and products I love. And this is an extension of that and more in depth reviews.

I don’t often share hair products and I guess that’s because I haven’t really found my holy grail yet. I must say I usually love all Kerastase products but overall I’m still looking for the one and keep trying new things. The one thing I love though is L’Oreal Elnett hairspray. It’s used a lot by professionals and I can see why. It really is good and such a good price too.

latestbeautybuys1

So first up today is the Dry Shampoo Foam by Ouai. I’ve tried this after watching it on someone’s Instastories and I loved what it did for them. After trying this I was not disappointed.  I love the fact that it’s a mousse so it makes your hair quite wet when you put it in your roots and it feels like it actually gives it a wash rather than just masking it with a powder. It’s such a genius idea! I love it. It doesn’t have a strong smell and I prefer it because some dry shampoos have an overpowering scent and you can tell when someone used them and it can be off putting. You only need very little and I will definitely buy this again.

latestbeautybuys2

Another one by Ouai. These are the only two products I’ve tried by the brand so far but I’m quite impressed with both so will probably try more. I’m not big on oil especially for hair because I’m worried they will make my hair greasy. But this Rose Hair and body Oil is quite a dry oil and when I’ve used it on my ends it gives them a bit of shine without being too much. And it smells amazing! I must say the fragrance sold it to me.. I’ve been using it on my body too and don’t judge me on my heels and it really softened them! I don’t know how about you but my feet get so dry in summer and I get hard skin and this is indulgent but my feet deserve it!

I’m sure you know how obsessed I am with lipsticks and glosses. A month doesn’t go by without me buying a few. You may have also noticed I’ve been really into Dior beauty recently and I couldn’t resist buying this Dior Addict lip Tattoo . It’s a lip tint rather than a full on lipstick and perfect for every day. You can layer it as much as you want and it lasts quite well. It gives a nice colour but it’s quite discreet. You can just tell you lips were stung by a bee!

latestbeautybuys5

After lipsticks, blushers and highlighters are my favourite make up products. I think they make such a big difference to your face. I’m not really into strong contouring but a sweep of highlighter and a bit of blusher makes me feel so much nicer. I have a few I use regularly but I was excited to try this liquid blush by Nars in one of their best selling shade Orgasm. It’s like a peachy pink and I believe it suits everyone. The colour is just gorgeous.  A little goes a long way so be very careful when you’re using it. First time I used way too much. The application is really easy, it gives you a nice glow and it lasts all day. I’m impressed.

latestbeautybuys7

Last but not least another lipstick, this time by Tom Ford. I love their lipsticks as they are very moisturising and last very well. Surprisingly this is the first one I bought in ages (possibly because they discontinued my favourite shade Lilac Nymp but also possibly because I’ve been so obsessed with Dior). The colour 87 Playgirl is quite a strong pink but it’s so pretty for summer. I will be wearing it a lot. I have few make up bits from Tom Ford and I love the quality I’ve reviewed some here. It’s a bit pricey but they really are good. Everything lasts really well, they are well pigmented and the packaging is nice too. If you want to buy yourself a little treat TF lipstick is definitely worth it.

Have you used any of these products? What are your latest beauty discoveries?

Have a stylish day.

Top 5 lipsticks for Summer plus new skincare products discoveries

top5lipsticks1

Last Sunday on my Instagram instastories beauty series I talked about lipsticks (my favourite beauty subject) and wanted to recap the whole thing in case you missed it (you can also catch up on my highlights on the whole series).

Not surprisingly all these lipsticks are pink. Yes it is my favourite colour but also I feel I’m too pale for corals and I only love wearing red around Christmas time. But I really enjoy trying different shades of pink and different textures. Not a month goes by without me buying at least one lipstick and these are my current favourite all perfect for Spring and summer.

I am going from lightest to brightest. All these lipsticks are shiny. I don’t really wear matte lipsticks much. I prefer something hydrating.

1.) Dior Lacquer stick in Lazy. This actually happens to be my favourite. I’ve come to discovering it by complete coincidence. My good friend actually bought it but realised she didn’t like the colour that much and gave it to me. I, on the other hand, love it! I’ve just repurchased because I’ve been using it so much it ran out. I love the texture, it’s very moisturising, feels very nice on the lips and the colour is kind of dusky pink and it’s perfect for every day.

2.) Dior Lacquer stick in Bubble. I’ve only purchased it recently because I really love the Lacquer sticks and actually want to buy more shades. They are seriously addicting! The colour Bubble is named aptly as it’s a bubble gum shade. It’s fun and playful and I’m loving it. Perfect for adding colour to your outfit especially in summer. I’ll be wearing this loads!

3.)  Chanel Rouge Coco in Ina. Again I’ve been wearing this one a lot. It’s for those days when I want bold colour but still not too much. I’d say it’s a happy medium. Very moisturising and stays on well. It’s a really lovely shade.

4.) YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 50. The brightest of them all but still appropriate for day wear. I don’t wear this as much as the other 3 but I keep it for those days when I need a pick me up colour. You can layer it and have it really strong or go lighter but it still adds more colour to your lips. When my outfit is really pale this is the one I reach for.

5.) Dior Addict Lacquer Plump in 677 Disco Dior. The boldest and brightest and definitely not for every day (at least not for me). Has an amazing staying power. High shine, glitters and perfect for evening. I wore it to the ballet this week (see my look here). Love it for those special occasions.

I also quickly wanted to mention two recent beauty discoveries. The Kiehl’s serum I was given a sample of recently when I was buying something at the airport and the minute I tried it on I knew I had to have it. It’s amazing! When I was buying it I was given another sample, this time of the Midnight recovery concentrate and again loving it and will be definitely buying it soon. Great two products for dry skin and I will do a proper review soon.

Have you tried any of these products? What would you like me to review next?

Skincare routine for dry skin plus few make up favourites

beauty4

It’s been a while since I did a beauty post, but in the last few months I have discovered products that I really love and wanted to share them with you.

I am 36, work in air-conditioned environment and have very dry sensitive skin. I have to always use SPF (I tend to use it as part of my foundation as it is the last layer). I have recently discovered primer and am hooked already. Because my skin is dry, it has no natural shine to it and sometimes feel quite flat. That’s why my number one product is a blusher to add dimension to my face (I’m loving the new palette from Tom Ford but more about that later.)

My friend who is a make up artist convinced my that I needed a primer and after a bit of research and trying it on couple of times I went for the Tom Ford Illuminating primer and I haven’t looked back. It is moisturising and feels amazing on the skin. I feel my make up definitely lasts better since I’ve been using it and my skin overall looks fresher. I am hooked and would definitely recommend this product.

Another Tom Ford product I’ve only discovered recently is the Contouring compact. It’s amazing! The colours are perfect. It has a bronzer, highlighter and brusher all in one which is handy and it was one of the few products I took on my holiday recently. I really love the shades and the packaging and it lasts really well. I am a very low maintenance girl when it comes to make up and rarely touch up during the day and with this I don’t have to and it stays on until the evening. It’s highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. The downs are that it’s quite pricey (so far I think it’s worth the pennies) and it’s a limited edition. I’m already worried about the time when I finish it. What if I can’t get the same?! Can you tell I love it?

If you have dry skin like me you must try the Chanel Hydra range. I can’t get enough! I use the Micro serum and after that the Hydra Micro cream. It’s helped me so much. They both feel really nice on the skin and smell lovely. I have used other hydrating ranges before but this one is definitely my favourite.

I also use Chanel Sublimage eye cream. The range is for older skin which I don’t think I need that anywhere else, but the eye cream is amazing! I have been using it for quite some time now and even though it’s super pricey in this case I think it’s totally worth it. Not only I’ve been told by skincare specialists and beauty therapists that my eye area is in a very good condition, it helped me lighten my pigmentation spots. (Like I said I have sensitive skin and must use SPF daily and if I don’t I get sun spots straight away and use this eye cream on those as well – it really helps!)

And last but not least when it comes to dry skin is a good hydrating mask. I’ve used quite a few different ones and like to alternate them. The Lancôme Hydra intense mask  is one I go back to. Skin feels soft after it and smells amazing. I also love Sisley Black Rose mask which I may review next time. I use a hydrating mask every 2 to 3 days and it has definitely made a difference. I use them instead of a night cream and leave overnight.

Last product I want to mention is Charlotte Tilbury eyebrow pencil. It’s not a product I used to invest in (I used Rimmel for years) but I bought it once just to try something new and just repurchased because I really like it. It has a brush on one side to tame your brows and the pencil on the other side.  It doesn’t need a sharpener (a plus), it glides on really well and comes in 5 shades. I’m using Brooke S and I think it looks quite natural. I don’t think I’ll be changing any time soon..

What are your favourite beauty products? Have you tried any of these? I’d love to know what you think.
